What a Wonderful Retreat!

Shark Slippers!

I’ve had such a great time this week with Gail and Janine! Janine had to leave yesterday morning to try to get home before the big rains hit. She made it just in time! It’s been raining here in East Palestine since around 5:00 last night.

I got a lot accomplished while I was here. I knitted about two inches on Sue’s second sock. I finished knitting and felting this beautiful hat from wool that Gail spun. And I got the first shark slipper finished for our dear friend, Lesa.

We ate lots of yummy foods and I’m happy to report the scale did NOT go up! Our friend Jan came yesterday morning with Baked Oatmeal and Fruit Salad. I fixed grits, as well. The girls loved them. I didn’t realize we were actually supposed to go to Jan’s farm for breakfast! Somehow our wires got crossed, but we’ll definitely have to go out there next time.

Gail sat with her spinning wheel last night while I worked some more on Sue’s socks. The house was so quiet after our friends were gone. Gail and I are good about working side by side. We don’t have to have a lot of conversation. We just know each other so well and we’re comfortable in our silent fellowship.

I can hardly wait to get home to see Mr. FixIt! And he’s just as anxious to have me back! He worked on cutting up the trees he felled last week. I’m sure he’ll be happy to have some help at Marshmallow Ranch!

I was saddened to hear of Kate Middleton’s report of cancer. It must be incredibly difficult to live in the limelight and have every move scrutinized. I truly hope people will back off and leave them alone now…give them some privacy and let the family deal with this in their own way.

Let’s all be good humans and lead by example.

”and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.“

1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 NIV
