Pancakes, Pizza, and Plenty of Sunshine!

I know, I know…I’ve told you this before, but these beds are SOOOOOOO comfortable. The old queen bed had very little support and it sagged in the middle. So Mr. FixIt and I rolled toward the center and had to fight to get up the incline and out of bed in the mornings. It was never restful and gave us both a backache. The twin beds are solid as a rock and the memory foam mattresses are just the right firmness to offer support and comfort. I am so happy we did this.

We slept so well on Thursday night and woke up refreshed yesterday morning about 8:30. We drove over to Stack ‘em High Pancakes and had breakfast. The owners were there and I had a lovely visit with Kristine. I met her the first time Mr. FixIt brought me to the beach and we really clicked. It’s been fun touching base with her every year to see what she’s been up to with the business and the kids and all their sports. She is full of energy, just like I was as a young mom.

Two-hundred twenty steps to the top of the Corolla Lighthouse.

After breakfast, we headed up to Duck to meet up with the kids at the condo. We hung around for a while. I worked on the cross-stitch sampler and when I got the border all the way around, I was off by one thread! I think it’s in a spot that won’t be too conspicuous so we’ll see if anyone will notice it.

What a view!

It was still windy yesterday so fishing or hanging out on the beach was not a viable option. We decided to drive up to the Corolla Lighthouse. We all walked up to the top and stood out on the observation deck. That was quite an undertaking for Mr. FixIt and me and we were both happy we could still accomplish the feat. We wandered around the grounds and the museum. We visited the gift shop and took all the pictures we wanted then headed back to the condo for pizza.

Kissing Shadows

We made it back to the camper around 7:30, but we couldn’t find an accessible spot to take a picture of the sunset. We’ll have better luck at our campsite further down the island. We move down there today. Then we can really set up the campsite the way we want it and be able to access our cooking utensils. We have salmon with broccoli, carrots, and asparagus to cook tonight!

”This is what the Lord says, he who appoints the sun to shine by day, who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar— the Lord Almighty is his name:“
