No Responsibilities!

I was way off when I described the color of this yarn yesterday. It has PINK in it…not blue. I think it’s going to make a beautiful felted hat!

Happy Spring! We got up to a dusting of snow yesterday and C-O-L-D!!! Brrrrrrr!

Gail and I had a great day. I cooked brunch…biscuits with sausage gravy and fried potatoes. Yummmmm! I actually used canned biscuits for the first time in years. I bought Pillsbury Grand Buttermilk Biscuits. The really flaky ones. I’ve always thought canned biscuits tasted a bit bitter, but these were really good. I guess if you put enough sausage gravy on something, it’s bound to taste good, right???

After I cleaned up the kitchen, we retired to the living room and spent the entire day knitting. I’m well over half finished with the hat I’m making. This particular pattern is for a felted wool hat…something I’ve always wanted to try, but never have. You knit it much bigger than your head size, then you wash it in a washing machine on the hottest setting. It has to be a washer with an agitator or it won’t work right. You can also felt it by hand. The agitation causes the fibers to mat together creating a dense fabric. I’m sure it’s going to take quite a while to dry so I may not be taking it home with me…we’ll see. I’ll just be happy to finish the knitting and get it felted and on the form before I have to leave.

It kinda matches the sofa!

I have really enjoyed having the dogs around. I love dogs. I just don’t want to commit to having another one. I love to sleep in. I don’t want to have one more thing to worry about or have to spend money on to make plans around. I’m “of an age” where I can enjoy the dogs of others…just like I enjoy the children of others. Then I can go home to the relative peace and quiet.

Tuxedo…aka Tux! What a pretty boy!

Speaking of quiet…this is a TV free zone this week! I glance at the news a couple of times during the day. I check the weather forecast. I check on the blog to see how you all are doing. And that’s the extent of my screen time. I would be just as happy to have NO TV every day! But alas…TV and Mr. FixIt go together. To be without TV at home would mean to be without Mr. FixIt and that simply will not do! I love my sweetheart.

Gail made a great supper with salad and a Butternut Squash with Ground Turkey dish that was not only low cal…it was crazy good. Here’s the recipe: https://gardeninthekitchen.com/ground-turkey-butternut-squash-skillet/ We knitted a while longer, then she made baked apples for dessert. It was such a wonderful day!

The little cottage at Gail’s has an old claw foot tub. A deep, hot soak after a day knitting and eating is as good as a week at a spa! The king sized bed is cushy, the crisp white sheets are fresh, and the open window lets in the chilly night air. It makes for great sleep!

This is divine!
