Mrs. FixIt to the Rescue!

I had no electricity in the camper Wednesday night. I was toasty warm so we seem to be past the cold weather now!

I woke up bright and early yesterday and got started working on my project. It was 7:30 and the house was quiet as Mr. FixIt snoozed away. The day broke cloudy and grey and it started warming up in a hurry. It got up to 76° yesterday! It kept looking like rain but none came.

Mr. FixIt headed to town after breakfast to pick up a new ground fault interrupter outlet for the camper. He is so good to let me do things because he knows how much I enjoy it. He offered the occasional bit of wisdom when I was momentarily stumped…but always with a note of encouragement. I had the outlet out and switched in no time, but only the bottom plugin worked. We pulled it back out and looked at it an the only think we could figure was I had the top wires in the wrong holes. I switched them and voila! Worked like magic! Everything turned on like it was supposed to so all is well with “Grace”. Campers are finicky creatures and can get a little bug up their snoot from time to time. It’s nice to have the skills to keep up with the maintenance and repairs.

I decided to break up my spring cleaning into doable segments so I can multitask. I worked on the spare room yesterday. My cousin is coming for a visit next month. I want to have that room ready for her so I’m not rushing at the end. We’re going to be at the beach the week before she arrives so I’ll need to be ready ahead of time.

It was still quite warm when I went to the back of the house to write last night. I propped myself up with pillows and opened the windows wide to let the fresh air in that’s one of the best parts of spring…flinging open the windows and a ring out the house. It’s no wonder people get sick in the winter. We’re closed up tight with other people sharing our air. It feels like being released from prison once the weather warms up enough to open the windows.

They are predicting locally heavy rainfall here over the next few days. Mr. FixIt went out to the creek to have a look at the storm drain to make sure it is clear. Knock on wood…we haven’t had a bit of water to clean up in the laundry room since we started putting that root killer down the drain. We put it down once a month or so and keep the end at the creek cleared out and so far, so good!

I can’t tell you how wonderful it feels in here as I’m writing this. It’s a little slice of heaven!

“Ask rain from the Lord in the season of the spring rain, from the Lord who makes the storm clouds, and he will give them showers of rain, to everyone the vegetation in the field.”

Zechariah 10:1 ESV
