Getting to the Point

Look at these points, but please don’t think they all look that way because they don’t!

Wasn’t yesterday the perfect day??? Sunny, warm, and Easter…the perfect combo! We cleaned a lot this weekend. I worked on the quilt and made a great deal of progress. It’s been a very long time since I made such a complicated quilt and my skills are rusty. But, it’s a gift, not something for competition so I’m happy with it. I’m sure the kids will love it.

We didn’t have a family gathering this weekend. We had a family dinner last week and everyone was either working or going to other family members’ houses. So, we praised God and puttered around here. Nothing big to report. Mr. FixIt is the sub on the Sunday night bowling league and he bowled for someone who couldn’t come. So, I came out to the camper to write my post.

If you aren’t a camping person, you probably think I’m nuts for wanting to sleep out there as much as possible. When I was pretty young, the neighbors up the road from Grandma’s farm had a little camper in their yard. It was lined with birch wood and had windows and little lace curtains. There was a dinette and a bed. I don’t remember the bathroom or kitchen. These folks were second cousins and I’d go over to play with their kids. Seven girls! We’d get in the camper with our dolls and pretend we were traveling the countryside.

I never got to camp in a camper till I was an adult. For a very brief time we had a VW Vanagon Camper and I loved it. It turned out to be a lemon so we sold it but not before we made one cross country trip with Daughter #1 when she was around ten years old. Between that little camper at the cousins’ and the van, I was smitten and from then on, I wanted a camper of my own. It turned out I didn’t get one till Mr. Virgo died but I’ve had one ever since and don’t plan to be without one for as long as I can keep going.

The next couple of weeks are going to be busy. I mowed a few rounds on the riding mower this weekend and proceeded to pop the belt off the mower deck so we have to replace that today. I need to finish that quilt top and get it to the quilter before we leave for our beach trip. I have two long arm quilters that I take my quilts to. One is a friend from high school about twenty-five miles away. The other is right here in our little village. It’ll depend on who can get me in the quickest and do it the cheapest. It’s really pricey to have it done, but I’m not going to try that on my own. Then we need to pack for the beach. I’ll be so glad to get down there and smell the salt air!
