Feeling the Time Crunch

I had all these plans to clean, do laundry, pack, and all manner of other things yesterday. Instead, I had just finished breakfast when Mr. FixIt saw a lawnmower on Marketplace. We bought a push mower from this guy a few years ago for our rental house and it’s still running well. Ours, on the other hand, needs something. I put a new carburetor on it and it still surges. We tried to adjust the throttle but you get two speeds….won’t start or jet engine. So, it was time to bite the bullet and replace it. It was only $140 for a 6.5hp Craftsman so hopefully it will do the trick and last us a long time.

As you know, if we go to town, we’re toast. There’s always a dozen errands and true to form, it was after 6:00 by the time we got home. That meant I had lost my window of opportunity to get a ton done and has put me behind even more. Then, when I loaded up the dishwasher and started it….it has finally bit the big one. It just sits there humming and heating and no water. It’s forever old and we’ve managed to get an extra year out of it by using the pots and pans cycle, but even that isn’t working. Now I have to unload it and wash all those dishes by hand, which isn’t a problem…it’s just another thing. I didn’t even use the dishwasher for the first two years I lived here so I can easily go back to that. It’s just not what I was planning on in the moment. But, isn’t that just the way? If we knew when something was going to break down, we’d have another one waiting in the wings, wouldn’t we?

To lighten my load and to take of some of the self-imposed stress off of me, I put the shop on vacation mode. That will make one less thing for me to mess with every day while we are traveling. And I was getting a little burned out. I’ve been too busy to sit down and create more designs, so I’ll just leave it be a little then I can pick it back up when we get back. So far we don’t have much scheduled for August. I think it’ll take a month to recover after the Colorado trip anyway!

Our list is long, but no matter what, it’ll be done or it won’t.

“And may the Lord our God show us his approval and make our efforts successful. Yes, make our efforts successful!”

Psalms 90:17 NLT
