A Week Packed Into a Day

See the sparse trees with the dusty pinkish gold leaves? Those are Beech Trees and this time of year, they really stand out in the woods against the dark wet background. I call them ”The Dusty Pink Ladies” as they dance around beneath the towering deciduous forest.

What an incredible day it was yesterday! I didn’t sleep well either night I stayed at the farm because it was just way too hot. That old drafty house is either too hot or too cold. I even had the bedroom window open. Sometime in the night I got up and when I came back to bed, I forgot to shut the bathroom door. There is a small vent free gas stove in there and man, did it ever heat up the bedroom. And once I woke up, I was done. I stayed awake the rest of the night and finally got up around 7:00.

I fixed my tea and warmed up the leftover pancakes. Once I had breakfast done and the dishes clean, I settled in the easy chair with my laptop. It took me three days to do one job because…before I could do this, I had to do that. Then there were three things I had to do before that could be done. It went on and on…round and round. By 6:00 last night, I finally had all the pieces put together and I was essentially done with biggest part of it.

I’m getting really excited about this project. I think it’s going to breath new life into my blog. I know it’s breathing new life in me! I came home all bubbly and bouncing around. I was glad to get back to the cool bedroom and warm hugs from my sweetie. He went to town in the early evening and I forgot to ask him to pick up a pound of tavern ham and some chips. I ran out in the rain and stood out in the side yard waving my arms but he didn’t see me. I tried to call him but he wasn’t picking up the phone. So, I did the next best thing. I called the little store he was going to and asked the man who answered to have Mr. FixIt bring home my desired purchases.

It felt like living in times gone by…asking the shopkeeper to bring home some meat and potatoes. See? We DO live on the Little House up the Holler! I talked to my Auntie Rosie yesterday and she knew who I was, but she was talking word salad. She didn’t really know where she was or why she was there. Poor thing. But I steered the conversation to safe topics from the distant pass that I was fairly sure she would remember.

So, all in all…it was a really good day! It got dark enough for folks to have to drive with their lights on at 9:00 yesterday morning. Then the thunder crashed and the house shook. The wind gusts blew around the corners of the house with a whistle. An hour later, the sun broke through for a bit and the storm was gone. It came through in waves all day and by dark last night, the temp started dropping and they predicted snow.

Let’s hope today is a beautiful day with the world blanketed in white! Stay safe everybody!

““If you’ll hold on to me for dear life,” says God, “I’ll get you out of any trouble. I’ll give you the best of care if you’ll only get to know and trust me. Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times; I’ll rescue you, then throw you a party. I’ll give you a long life, give you a long drink of salvation!””
