A Day of Spinning my Wheels

It was a day of rest, for sure…but I also piddled around on the computer downloading elements for my designs. It feels good to be creating again. I posted two sets of Grief Support Greeting Cards in my shop with the same sentiments I offer in my writings. They’re quite simple with a line drawing of a flower behind the dual-font script. The inside is blank for your own message and each comes with its own envelope. They are sold in packets of five. These are the first cards I’ve attempted and I hope you like them.

It was pretty chilly here at Marshmallow Ranch yesterday. The only real job we did was replace the gas cap on the Lincoln. The warning light came on the other day saying the gas cap wasn’t tight. It was off the next time I turned the car on, but the “Service Engine Soon” light came on and has stayed on. I replaced the gas cap yesterday and we drove the car around a little but the light is still on. I think maybe when we fill up the car, the light will go out. Let’s hope it isn’t anything major.

You can’t see the gas cap in this photo, but I had to slip the harness off the old cap and put it on the new one. The plastic is 21 years old now and I was scared to earth I’d break it but it went right on like it was supposed to.

Car troubles…what a pain in the neck. We started out buying junker cars because that’s all we could afford. Then when money wasn’t quite so tight, we never let a car get 100K miles on it. Now were back to buying “sensible” cars and running them till they won’t run anymore. I’ll never buy a brand new car again…especially at today’s prices!

Daughter #2 had a birthday yesterday. As a matter of fact, I got to talk to both of my girls. It’s always a treat to hear their voices. I used to get my nose out of joint if they didn’t call me as often as I liked. Now, if I want to hear their voices, I call them. They’re a heck of a lot busier than I am. I know they felt pressured to call me and I’m sure that contributed to them not finding the time. Ask me how I know this. I did the same to my mom when I was their age but I soon mended my ways and called her every Sunday night like clockwork.

Our crab apple tree is rotten in the center and needs to be cut down.

I also got to talk to my sweet brother yesterday. He wasn’t feeling well last week so they put off his move to this week. He’s getting more frail and needs to be in a setting where he has 24/7 assistance. He was very proud of himself that he had almost all of his stuff packed! He’s had so many challenges in his life and it makes my heart happy to hear a lilt in his voice. It’s been difficult to reach him by phone in the home he’s been living in. He is hard of hearing so he doesn’t always hear the cell phone ring. And he has a difficult time hearing on the handset of the landline phone in his apartment. Once he gets in his new place and has staff there all the time, we should be able to speak more frequently. I want to get an Amazon Echo for him so we can video chat every week. I think that would be good for both of us. He owns such a big piece of my heart.

Rhododendron Dauricum: A miniature compact shrub, sometimes called Japanese…although the literal translation is Siberian Rhododendron.

The weather is supposed to warm up the next few days. Wednesday is predicted to hit 85°!!!! It’s what always happens…we go from meat locker to microwave in an instant. No time to acclimate! Some more severe storms are due the middle of the week. Let’s pray for the safety of those in the path and that things settle down some. I hope there’s a little time before we get heavy rain again. We had standing water in our yard this weekend that looked like a pond. We had 2” of rain in a little over a day.

Think I’ll work on the quilt today!

Tick Tock, Tick Tock…the wedding will be here before we know it!

⏰??

“Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit.”

James 5:17-18 ESV

*I designed some tender grief support cards over the weekend and posted them in the shop. We all know someone who is grieving. I like to have a few cards tucked away because we don’t always have time to go out and get one when it’s needed. And if ever a card is needed, it’s to support the bereaved.
