Stellar Day!

I got up early yesterday, put on the coffee, and started writing. I had to prepare my paperwork for the conference in DC in August. There was a bio to write and a synopsis of my talk. There was the speaker’s agreement and selecting the professional head shot. And, twice when I was almost finished my keyboard would just randomly stop working. I had to do the same thing three times before I got it done right. I finally finished at 1:00 and decided it was play time. I called a couple friends and we strapped our kayaks on our respective vehicles and hit the road.

We paddled five miles. We went up the channel on the east side of Middle Island and down the Ohio side, then round the tip of the island and back up the channel to the marina. I absolutely love that paddle. The channel is fairly still and there are several places where you glide under a canopy of trees. When you come out at the uppermost point of the island, the Ohio River opens up before you in a grand way. It’s stunning, as you can see in the photo. The river is really wide there and, of course, you’re paddling downstream so it’s nice to have that easier part during the second half. We had a great time and stopped at a little neighborhood restaurant for salad for dinner. I was pretty pooped when I got home.

Good company. Good upper body workout day. Life is beautiful, indeed!

“Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
