Saturday at The Farm!!!

I had about an hour to knit before I headed to town for the embroidery class with Mrs. FixIt 1.0. I had to stop on the way at the Sheetz station for a quick snack because I knew by 2:00, I was going to be really hungry. I arrived at the library right on time and met the others attending. Angie handed out the pattern for the little bunny embroidery we were to do, along with the supplies.

My mom was the embroiderer of the family. And she did beautiful work. One year when she came to Colorado for a visit, I bought some Aunt Martha’s Iron-On Transfers and prepared a couple of white pillow cases and asked my mom if she would embroider them for me. I still have them. She taught me several stitches when I was little which I used mostly to decorate my bell bottoms in the ‘70s. “Make Love, Not War”, “Peace”, and “Flower Power” were the designs of the day. This little bunny should be a piece of cake.

I traced the pattern onto the cotton square that Angie gave us then placed it in the embroidery hoop. I followed the directions and by the time a half hour passed, I remembered why I didn’t pursue this craft. It’s just not my thing. But I enjoyed the experience and visiting with the other ladies. They’ll be doing a class every month and I’ll go to the next one, but I’m bringing my own project and will visit with the gals while I work on it.

I had to stop at Sam’s to get my blueberries then headed home. I grabbed a sandwich and found Mr. FixIt down by the creek cleaning out the drainage ditch. As soon as he was finished, We headed out to The Farm to mow. I was shocked that the tractor started right up. I quickly finished mowing and headed home to start supper. On our way home, we stopped at the local park and took pictures of the flooding.

I have been craving two things…salmon and curry. I found a package of salmon at Sam’s with two large salmon halves. It was on sale, so I picked it up. I cooked some quinoa and set it aside. Then I sautéed a couple cups of sliced mushrooms, slid them to the sides of the pan, and put two portions of salmon (skin side down) in the middle of the skillet. I covered the skillet with a lid and popped it in a 350° oven.

While the salmon was baking, I mixed up the curry sauce. I’ve been using this sauce mix for years. I used two of the squares in the package and added them to some water in a saucepan. The squares melt into the water and create a thick sauce. When the salmon was almost done, I pulled it out and poured the sauce over the fish and popped it back in the oven for about ten minutes. Serve with the quinoa and a vegetable of your choice.

This was probably one of the best meals I’ve made in a long, long time….in the top five at least. Mr. FixIt loved it and you know that’s good testament. I froze the rest of the salmon filets and will certainly make this again in the coming weeks. I also love to grill salmon and serve it over salad.

So, it was a busy and productive day. I’ll have to mow here at the house today because rain will coming again. Church first.

”Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.“
