Knitting and Driving

I spent a little time in my favorite shop in town…Mulberry Lane.

I love the Monday morning knitting group. Back in the day, when I had my little needlework shop in Colorado, we had one day a week when the ladies came for the day. They were lined up when I opened the door, and I walked out with them at 5:00. We ordered lunch in and no subject was off the table. I opened that little shop a year after Hubby #2 and I split up. I had big hopes for that little place. It was a safe haven for me…a therapy. of sorts. An opportunity to rebuild my seriously damaged self-esteem. I lost my shirt…twice actually…but I learned many valuable life lessons.

This little shop is filled to the brim with eye candy!

After Mr. Virgo died and I left Colorado, I didn’t touch a knitting needle for years. I didn’t have the mental spoons to concentrate on anything detailed. Eventually, I picked up my needles again and I found knitting to be soothing. Grief has cycles and once I got to where I could focus, knitting became my therapy. I was thrilled to get back into a knitting group and share time with like-minded women.

Mr. FixIt’s eye appointment takes hours, so I browsed…for hours!

We had a lovely time, sitting around the tables, sharing our exploits of the past week. One has started making little knitted babies and I spent some time with her, showing her the ins and outs of construction. It reminded me of the days I taught knitting in my shop. “If you build it, they will come.” It isn’t just about baseball. You teach someone to work with needles, they’ll keep coming back to your shop to feed their hobby. Kinda like a pusher…I get ‘em hooked, so to speak.

I stopped to pick Mr. FixIt up and we went to town for his eye appointment. Then we went out to dinner at Olive Garden with a gift card we got for his birthday. Soup and Salad…the best! And we were actually home before dark…can you believe it?! We spent a quiet evening watching old episodes of Bull. And, just so you know…and I stay accountable…I had a nice piece of pie with my tea. It was divine…no guilt attached!

shhhhh….don’t tell anybody, but…I bought a hat!
