It’s SPRING!!!

Spring buds
“The First Buds of Spring”

I hold my breath all winter for this day! I really, really try to like winter. I’ve tried making friends with it. I’ve tried ignoring it. I’ve tried going to warm places during it. But it’s the lack of light that does me in. I just sink…to varying degrees. Some years I float just under the surface. Other years I sink like a stone. I think this was a stone year but I’m fighting my way back up.

One of the challenges I’m faced with right now is feverishly copying five years of blog posts from Facebook to my website. It is a project I delve into from time to time, but I’m so worried about what would happen if FB went away. I would lose TONS of content. I sat down one day and did a very rough calculation and figured I have over a MILLION words here on Marshmallow Ranch. It would be a tragedy to lose that so I’ve been working away at it for the last week. Diving down into some of that stuff is hard. But seeing these buds out in the yard yesterday made my heart sing! It was 74 degrees, and…we are expecting 3-6” of snow Wednesday. Argh!

Also, today would have been Mr. Rogers’ 90th birthday. I’m really looking forward to the biopic featuring Tom Hanks as Mr. Rogers! I love them both.

Enjoy the First Day of Spring, my lovely friends! Get out and do something fun! ❤️

“Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.””
‭‭Hosea‬ ‭6:3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

  1. Our youngest daughter has a first day of Spring birthday. I was a boulder this year. Trying to get through the first year without my mom.

      1. Thank you thank you thank you….you just described me EXACTLY…it’s not the temperature as much as the SUN…daylight savings comes, and I start climbing up up up…this has been a stone year for me also..I deplore the snow forecast but still have happiness inside me…GOD IS SOOOOO GOOD.

  2. do you try using a light box? no the Real Thing, but it is said to help. I once went 28 straight days of FOG one summer (no sun at all and very chilly and damp), so I can imagine what a whole winter could be like. I too cherish those buds of spring–Japanese Quince is a real harbinger!

  3. Understand the light issue. Most of the time it doesn’t get too bad here. One especially snowy winter, I bought an Alaskan Northern Lights light box. It was a life saver. A short time under the light every morning really helps!

  4. Did you watch PBS’s special on Mr. Rogers? It was great. I love flying into Pittsburgh airport. His sweaters are in display. The puppets are at the Pittsburgh Children’s Museum. My grandkids loved seeing them. Stay warm and out of the snow! It has already started here.

  5. Not a get out and do something day here. Cold, windy, nasty day. Hope it gets better soon.

  6. I am the same way,I get so down in the winter,I over eat-I am so glad I survived another dreary winter,Beautiful day today in S.C.73 degrees.only 48 tomorrow.Oh well it is now SPRING.
