Honey…I’m Home!

It was cloudy and chilly the whole time.

Did you miss me? Wow…what a whirlwind trip with its ups and downs. First of all, it was SO good to see my camping gals! Some I hadn’t seen in ages and a new gal I’d never met. Now that we aren’t there, I can reveal we stayed at Pymatuning State Park in Andover, Ohio. My campsite was probably the best in the whole park…right on the shore of Pymatuning Lake. The views were gorgeous. It actually wasn’t terribly cold the first couple of days. It rained most of the day Friday. The nights were pretty darned chilly but I stayed plenty warm under the electric blanket (with four more assorted blankets on top) and a small electric space heater running.

The downside was, I didn’t feel very well. I was sick the night before I left for the campground and I chalked it up to my usually pre-trip jitters. But, I didn’t have much of an appetite the entire time. And there was some WONDERFUL food! I’m telling you…these gals can cook! Everything from vegetable soup to breakfast burritos, cheesy egg and sausage grits casserole to pork roast and sauerkraut. There was fruit galore and nibbly treats. It was wonderful…even if I didn’t get to eat much of it.

The cabin was pretty tight quarters with six women and three dogs, but it was cozy with a gas fireplace and everything we needed. I was glad I brought my big camp chairs so we were all pretty comfy.

I started knitting a beautiful Irish wool cardigan in a rich red tweed. I got about four inches finished on Friday. Then…the weather notifications started coming in. They were predicting severe lake effect snow bands from Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning. Depending who you got your weather report from, there was an expected snow accumulation of from two to four inches or six to nine inches. Either way, one inch is too much for me to tow a camper in. I did that once in Colorado and that snow is far more forgiving than the snow around here. So, all things considered, I made an executive decision and decided to head home Saturday morning. And since I already had posts scheduled…I just let it ride till last night when I wrote and scheduled this.

The Bride-to-Be turned 25!

One of the upsides of coming home Saturday was…I got to go to one of the WV Grand’s birthday party Saturday night. This is the one getting married this summer so there were lots of fun things to talk about. We had a lovely time and I was so glad I didn’t have to go anywhere yesterday. I continued to work on the project. I was hoping to do the big reveal today but I still have some housekeeping on the back channels to finish before I can do that. We’ll just have to continue to build the suspense in the meantime.

Saturday morning on Pymatuning Lake!

Mr. FixIt went to the bowling alley to visit with his buddies last night while I stayed in the Big Red Chair working on the computer. The floor of the family room is littered with camping gear…a goodly portion of which needs to go to its proper home at Mr. FixIt Jr’s house. Hopefully we can get that done this week.

Sunday morning!!! One of the gals sent this to our camping group chat. I am SO glad I didn’t have to deal with that with the camper!

Today is officially the First Day of Spring!!! We made it, y’all! And while we may be sitting in the cold with snow on the ground (depending on your location) it won’t be long before REAL spring weather shows up for good. And then…before we know it…it will be so hot we can’t stand it! Are we ever really happy with what we’ve got?

Thanks for keeping the home fires burning while I was gone. As it turned out, I actually had cell service up at the lake and could have written to you but it was kinda nice to have three nights off. It helped stir up the creative juices and get me motivated with new ideas!
