Drifting Along

January and February seem to last FOR-EV-ER. The rest of the year flies by, yet I swear January and February are three times longer than any of the other months. I need warmth. I need water. I need sun, sand, surf…something! Surely I was born for some reason other than to pay taxes, crawl through January and February and eventually die. The tedium of these days of thin light and a fat butt is about to drive me stir crazy. So, in my inimitably Pollyanna-esque fashion, I have to…yet again…redirect my focus from the small picture to the big, widescreen view of life.

There is a reason I am alive today. Actually, there are a lot of reasons. So, let’s just list some.

  • God is not finished with me yet. Spirit told me that when I nearly left fifteen years ago.
  • I have a beautiful family that needs me to be there for them as they grow and experience life. They need my wisdom.
  • There are people I need to meet, messages I need to deliver, words that need to be written. I have a calling and I must rise up and accept the challenge.
  • I have places to go and things to see.

I have a job to do. I have a light within me that needs to be shared and until I have finished the job I’ve been given and I get called back home, I’m here…good, bad, or indifferent…so I might as well make the most of it. Wasting away the days I have been given is criminally negligent. There are so many, Mr. Virgo included, who weren’t granted as much time. It may be the end of January. We may have more snow coming. But I can’t let that lull me into complacency.

Up! Rise up and meet the day! There are adventures to be had and I don’t want to miss a single one!

“You will surely forget your trouble, recalling it only as waters gone by.”

Job 11:16
