Ahhhhhh….Relaxation!

We got a good scare this morning just as we were ready to pull out of the driveway with the new camper. The highway guys had the big tractor with the mowing arm on it, cutting brush, grass, bushes, and small trees across the road from us. As I watch him coming up the road, closer and closer, I wondered if I might be able to scoot out of the driveway and be gone before he got to our drive. Right about then, I heard him hit something and a three inch diameter tree trunk came whirling like a baton straight at us! Fortunately, he was far enough away the tree hit the front of our truck with a whack.

We looked at each other in stunned silence then both said, “What the heck???” We got out of the truck and while Mr. FixIt picked up the tree trunk and inspected the truck, I flagged down the worker and made a slashing motion across my throat to get him to cut off the mower. He drove up and I yelled, “You threw a tree clear over here and hit our truck! Do you think you could wait a few minutes till we pull out of here before you mow down this way?” He was very apologetic and asked if it did any harm. I told him not that we could see, but to please be a little more observant of his surroundings. That thing is dangerous. Imagine if it was a rock. Or if one of the babies had been out there.

Anyway, once the adrenaline came back down, we were on the road. After a quick stop to deliver some zucchini to my bonus daughter, and pick up a loaf of zucchini bread and some cucumbers, we left for the campground. It was 11:00am when we left and about 4:30 or so when we got here. Gail was waiting for us with open arms. We got the camper set up and then went over to visit. We roasted hotdogs over the open fire. Then we had toasted marshmallows for dessert. It was so much fun to visit and relax around the campfire.

Once we were getting settled for the night, I realized I forgot my nightgown at home. I know, I know…but it was supposed to get down to 53 degrees last night. And, if I have to walk to the outhouse in the middle of the night, I had to be decent, right? Fortunately, the campground is only about ten minutes from Walmart so we buzzed over there and found my very favorite nightgowns. This is the third one I’ve bought so far this year. They are cotton, sleeveless, long enough to cover but not so long that it binds around your legs at night. I think I need to go back and buy a few more. When I find something I really like…be it shoes or pants or whatever…I buy several in different colors or patterns. I just recently ordered three more pairs of shorts (you can find them here…https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DH8X95L/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_dl_0T3YV0BH3P44S3CX67KY?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 ) that I absolutely live in every day. If it works and it’s good quality and it doesn’t cost and arm and a leg, I’m all over it.

So, the first day is done. We can sleep well in the woods. It’s cool and quiet and peaceful. The night sounds are soothing and life is good. We are feeling blessed today.

How can July be over already???
