A Good Do Over

Way too big! Time for a do over!

We had a less than stellar meal at iHOP a couple of weeks ago. Mr. FixIt contacted them via email and they offered us a complimentary meal as a replacement. I was writing my post last night and thought to myself, “I should ask Mr. FixIt to go with me and we can go to iHOP for breakfast.” It wasn’t fifteen seconds when he turned to me and said, “I should go in with you tomorrow and we can go to iHOP for breakfast.” This guy is so tuned into me, it’s scary! lol

I had to go to town yesterday to deliver a lab specimen so we drove on up the river to get some pancakes. This time it was perfect! We always have good luck there…that one time was just a fluke.

When we got home, I started working on this pair of mittens that I’m knitting. I know you are supposed to knit a swatch, but I almost never do. Most of the time, I get by without a problem, but this time the mittens were coming out WAY too big. Now I’ll have to rip this one out and knit a swatch so I can get the size to come out right. I really hate frogging (ripping out) a project but sometimes it’s necessary. If you’re going to put all this time and effort and the expense of the yarn into a project, you want it done right. I’ll work on it more today.

We had an unexpected death in our family this week. We weren’t terribly close, but I knew her and really loved her. She was so kind and generous and will be dearly missed. A mother will bury her daughter. I cannot imagine that pain. I have held sacred space for some who have lost their children and their grief seems like my times a million. Parents aren’t supposed to bury their kids…no matter what age they are and my heart breaks for these families.

Our weather is warming this week. These are the sneak peeks of spring that we get in February. Back in 2018, we got so warm in February that the spring peepers started calling. Another symptom of the drastic weather changes we are seeing. These false springs give us hope of warmer days ahead. Mr. FixIt and I went outside last night to watch the moon. The sky was crystal clear so it will be another chilly night, but tonight might be warm enough to go “camping.” I love the mattress in the camper…memory foam and high count sheets. I camp like a girl!
