The Tempest

Stormy Atlantic

Yesterday was one of those days that was so jam packed with fun activities and sights seen that I really should have written them all down. The sun was out this morning so I made a bee-line for the local coffee shop then hit the beach. I soaked up every sight, sound and smell as I sipped my latte. Then I grabbed a quick breakfast in the condo before I headed south. My goal was to travel clear down to the tip of the island, which I did, but that beautiful sunny sky turned dark and threatening so fast. I can see how sailors get in trouble so fast with the changing face of the sea.

I stopped at Bodie Island to climb the lighthouse and as soon as I purchased my ticket and got to the door, the first clap of thunder could be heard in the distance. That automatically closed the lighthouse for tours. It was raining hard by the time I got back to my truck.

I decided to press on and head south. Even though I drove through the worst rain, by the time I got to Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, the sky had cleared considerably. It turned into a beautiful afternoon. I visited the beach in several areas, wandered through shops, and had the best fish tacos of all time at Sandbar & Grill in Buxton.

The weather has not offered a good sunset or sunrise yet. It got really misty and foggy by the time I got back to the condo. The weather is supposed to be wonderful the rest of the week. I’m hoping I get some good beach time before I have to leave on Saturday. ❤️

“Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭8:24‬ ‭NIV‬‬

  1. “Buxton”….I will have to do some research on that as it is my maiden name. ? It sounds so nice there. Might have to put it in my bucket list. Happy travels.
