Work It!

I was climbing these 9 times a few times a week before I left for Colorado in June. Then I got altitude sickness, and since I’m already prone to heat exhaustion, I shied away from exercising much this summer. Fortunately, I had enough muscle mass built up that I didn’t gain weight in this three months. Now that it’s cooler, I’m hitting the steps again. I did them twice last week. Yesterday I climbed them five times. I’m certainly not in as bad shape as I was when I first started, but…wow! I was working it that fifth time up! It feels SO good though and the results are well worth the effort.

Remember…I don’t exercise. I go outside and play! That, and adjusting my attitudes about food are the keys to my success. Also, before I EVER came close to being thin, I told myself these things every day…while looking in the mirror, while bathing, while dressing, while driving…on rising up and laying down.

  • 1) My body is a temple.
  • 2) I am made in God’s image.
  • 3) I am beautiful.
  • 4) I am worthy.
  • 5) I am fit.
  • 6) I am healthy.
  • 7) I am happy.
  • 8) I am perfect because God made me.
  • 9) I feel great!
  • 10) I am LOVED!!!

When the lies come…oh, and they WILL come…counter them with something from your “feel good list”. And move, baby! Get a little swish in your walk. Hold your head up. Stick your chin out. Look where you’re going…forward! Onward! Upward! You’ve got this!
