When God Tells You to Do Something…DO IT!

“When a Resolution becomes a Revolution”

Here I am. It’s Monday. It’s been two weeks since my self-imposed schedule change here on the blog. And, ever since I made the change, my inner being has been in an uproar. Like static electricity on the radio and I couldn’t quite make out what was being said. It was driving me buggy.

Over the last two weeks, I’ve stopped and gotten still and listened. I’ve prayed about it. And I wasn’t getting anything. It seemed as though my direct line to the Holy Spirit had been disconnected and I didn’t like it one bit. Still…I persevered. I’d made a decision, after all.

Then, yesterday at church, I had one of those remarkable moments that is so God-driven that I kept laughing out loud during the sermon. (Good thing it’s a really contemporary service and there’s a lot of interaction during services.)

I love it when I get those Instagrams from God…when He shows you a very clear picture and speaks to you through the Holy Spirit and it’s clear and real and unmistakable. The sermon was about being good.

“Being good is good, until it’s not good enough anymore.”

Pastor Justin Enoch – Warehouse Church

Pastor Justin gave the example of the invention of the telephone. There was the crank on the wall and the party line. It was good, but it soon became apparent that it wasn’t good enough. There was the wall phone, then the cordless phone, then the portable phone in the bag, then the true cell phone, then the many incarnations of that till we got to the smart phones. And the smart phones will be good…until they aren’t good enough anymore.

We can be good. Just good. Good enough. Or, we can go the extra mile, do the extra work, and bring God’s greatness through us into our works. And THAT is great! Pastor Justin reminded us we all have greatness within us. We all have the ability to do great things. We all have a calling. God has given each one of us a gift and a purpose and a personal directive. Will we pick that up? Or will we settle for just good?

I suddenly had a revelation. I set myself a resolution for the first of the year when what I needed was a REVOLUTION! Do you remember the story about me sitting in church and getting the message that I had to put scriptures in my posts? God gave me a purpose…a job…and I obeyed. Then I eventually got a little burned out and overwhelmed and I decided to step away. I’m glad I did, because it has given me clarity, which opened me up to be able to hear…THIS was my assignment. THIS is my ministry. THIS is my blessing. THIS is my opportunity to share what God does for me.

It’s the REST of the writing that needs to be second place.

So…here I am. I’m back. I’ve rediscovered my purpose.

I really missed being here with you all every morning.

Thanks for waiting.

❤️

“that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him,”

Ephesians 1:17 ESV
