Van Life

Conversion van
“One of our Girl Campers brought her conversion van to camp in. We were sold!”

My dear friend Gail has a conversion van that is tricked out like a camper. It’s currently in the camper hospital so she camped in a tent this time. But one of the other gals brought her conversion van and was kind enough to give me a peek inside.

I can see now why van girls love these so much! There is a lot you can pack into a small space. Christy has hers in soft pastels and cream, making the space seem much larger. She uses her Yeti cooler as extra seating. She has a whole kitchen crammed in this little cabinet.

This really got my creative juices flowing and I was thinking of all the things I can do to the minivan when I get ready to convert it. The only downside I could see is no air conditioner. She does have a 12v fan she can use, but I’m thinking I would be limited to spring and fall excursions.

Christy spend five weeks at Quartzite, Arizona in the winter and never felt claustrophobic in this setup. She is thinking she would like to take it on the road full-time. I belong to a few Facebook groups that focus on the van life. It’s intriguing…but a little too confining for two.

Anyway, someone asked to see the van…so here she is! Enjoy!

  1. I’ve had getting a van in the back of my mind . . . Something easy to drive, simple without the worry of propane, holding tanks and all that stuff. Just a bed, a porta potty, an ice chest and cast iron frying pan, LOL. A way for me to feel comfortable and safe and still be able to going camping.
Thanks for this post. I’ve joined the SOTF email list and am giving their group a lot of thought. I’m 73 and not ready for a rocking chair.

    1. Check out the Girl Campers, too. All of the girl camping groups have something to offer. The van idea sounds so cool and it’s something I’m really considering. I’m glad you’re going out doing things! ❤️
