Up With The Morning Dew

I awoke early yesterday. Mr. FixIt had an appointment in town at 10:20 and I was afraid I would oversleep. I laid there…listening to the birds and watching the sky brighten till I finally got up. I really enjoy when I get to sleep in the camper. Pretty soon it will be too hot to sleep out there without an air conditioner and the power we have the camper hooked up to will not support that. So…I take advantage of it while I can.

I dressed while the kettle was heating up then fixed a lovely breakfast of yogurt, fresh sliced peaches, and a sprinkling of granola. When the water was hot, I poured my morning cup of RYZE mushroom coffee and opened the camper door to sit on the steps and eat. I loved how the morning light was coming in the door on my fun rug, so I set the food down and grabbed my phone to capture this little snippet of peace.

Mr. FixIt’s appointment went well, and afterward we went to Ward’s Market. I don’t know if it’s the same Ward’s Market that was over in Belpre when I was growing up. I can remember going there with my mom when I was a child. We always went to Ward’s for the very best watermelon and seasonal fruits and vegetables. Dad had a garden a couple of years, and we always had fresh produce from Grandma’s farm. So going to Ward’s was a special treat.

I stop at this market as often as I can. The folks there are so kind and helpful. There’s always a warm greeting and a funny story. And the colors just pop there…reds, yellows, and greens inside…and crazy beautiful flowers outside. I love hanging baskets of flowers, but the only time I ever had any luck with them was when I built my home in New Castle, Colorado. I had the sprinkler guy hook up a separate zone to water my flowers on a timer, so they were always gorgeous. If you ever make it to Parkersburg, look  up Ward’s Market on 7th Street and tell them Ginny McKinney sent you.

We headed home and I made a monstrous salad for a late lunch and we both stretched out for a little siesta. Then we watch the news and Mr. FixIt put the new garden soil we bought on top of the elephant ears he planted a couple of weeks ago. I started cleaning the camper and putting stuff away. We’ve decided to take a quick impromptu camping trip for three nights at one of our favorite nearby campgrounds. Cell service is spotty but just across the river is a produce stand with wifi so I should still be able to post….pictures at the very least!
