Ugh, Another Trip to Town

The full moon in a marbled sky.

Honestly, I thought I was done with the going to town thing till NEXT YEAR, but no such luck. I needed a couple things for this weekend, and I wanted to get some yarn while it was on sale. We left about 11:00 and I was hoping to be back before dark but it was 7:00 before we got home and still didn’t get everything done. At least the stores weren’t elbow to elbow with people, but I still got overstimulated, my neck and back hurt, and I was just over it. Fortunately, I have the most patient husband on the planet.

Mr. FixIt and I were looking for last minute gifts for our three little boys. One is big into Woody and Buzz Lightyear, and he’s such a sweet little guy. I bought him books that play sound effects from the Toy Story characters. The other two little boys are rough and tumble little guys who are all about monster trucks. But they get all that stuff from their parents, so we bought them matching sets of four GI Joe action figures. You never quite know what to get the kids when you don’t get to spend much time with them. Hopefully, between the toys and the hats and loaded Christmas stocking that I made, it will be enough for them.

I “camped out” Christmas night. I thought for sure I would sleep like a baby, but it was actually hotter in the camper than it usually is in the house, so I tossed and turned a good portion of the night. It was still fun to spend at least one night out there in December. I think I’ve slept in the camper at least one night every month in 2023…one of my goals for the year!

I saw this cute little book when we were shopping for the littles.

Hopefully I can stay home the rest of the week/year. I have a surprise guest I’m interviewing today so I’m really excited for that and hopefully will be able to post it later this week Not much new around here other than that. I hope you all had a nice Christmas and maybe hit some of the sales yesterday. I don’t wrap gifts anymore. I bought those pretty boxes when they went on sale a couple of years ago, so everyone gets their stuff in their box, along with a cloth drawstring bag to take them home. Then the boxes stay here to be filled again next year. Trying to keep the expenses and waste down and maintain a smaller carbon footprint during the holidays.

  1. I bought some pretty Christmas cotton several years ago, on after-holiday sale. I zig-zagged the edges and printed out a couple of furoshiki instruction sheets for us to use. If I give it as a gift outside of the family circle, I include a sheet for the recipient to be able to reuse the wrapping. Happy New Year!
