A Typical Saturday in June

It was a mostly cloudy, humid day in the Mid-Ohio Valley yesterday. Lots of fun activities to kick off some summer fun. First, we met family at a Chinese restaurant to celebrate a birthday and we got to play with the great-grandbaby for a little while. That was fun. Then we headed to City Park for a picnic that we were too late for, however, there was a car show going on so we walked around and gawked at some seriously gorgeous cars. There was a red 1953 Chevy there that was killer. Hard to believe it was built the year I was born and it wasn’t rusted out. Harder to believe I’M not!

My favorite was this blue and white Chevy Custom pickup truck. I could definitely see this baby pulling my ‘67 Franklin. I would paint it the same colors. Wouldn’t that stunning? After the park, we hit a garage sale then headed to the annual flea market at the fair grounds. The only thing of interest there was this American Camper iron skillet…not because it is worth anything, because it’s not. They’re cheaply made in China. But the name was pretty cool! Which brings me to something that was REALLY cool!

My good friend, Janine Pettit…of the GirlCamper Podcast…was on Fox & Friends yesterday morning! GoRVing was there on the Plaza with Janine and others. There were three campers…a big motor home, a lightweight camper designed by a NASA engineer, and the Little Guy Mini Max (the one Janine is road testing for Liberty Outdoors.) I am so excited for her! She works hard and travels all over the country promoting Girl Camping. She teaches Camper Colleges, she speaks at Country Living Fairs, and she has a great podcast that teaches you a lot of things about “camping like a girl.” Great accomplishment, Janine…way to go!

The air yesterday looked so thick you could cut it with a knife. Heat and humidity are not my favorite. Why can’t West Virginia have ALL my family and friends here along with 60-75 degree temps during the day, 50-55 degree temps at night, 345 sunny days and 25% humidity year round? It that asking for too much? lol My grandma used to say “If wishes were horses then beggars would ride.” So I’ll end with this…When all seems lost, put a piggy in a harness and take him for a walk at the flea market. You are guaranteed to have a good time! ❤

“He replied, “When evening comes, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,’ and in the morning, ‘Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭16:2-3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

  1. “If wishes”…that’s an old English saying from ‘The Real Mother Goose’– book I had in childhood. My Gram was a Londoner and had lots of saying like that, handed down through the ages to family tots. “Ride a cockhorse to Banburry Cross, to see a fine lady upon a white horse…” recited while you give a toddler a piggy back ride. etc. I used to love “reading” that book as a preschooler.
