Time Flies When You’re Having Fun!

I woke up yesterday morning to the sun peeking through the curtains in the camper. It was cold…a very brisk 46 degrees! My electric blanket turns off automatically after a certain amount of time and I keep forgetting to reset it when I’m turning off the lights. Consequently, it was off and getting pretty darned nippy in the camper along about 6:00. I turned the blanket back on, as well as the little ceramic heater, and it was toasty in no time and I slept till 8:00.

I stretched and watched the shadows of the trees on the window for a little bit, then I heard my friends rattling around out there. Gail threw logs on the fire and it was soon crackling, so I knew I needed to get up and get moving. Anne made peanut butter pancakes with real maple syrup…yummmm! There was crispy bacon and scrambled eggs…and coffee! I don’t know what it is…but camping coffee tastes better than any other coffee I’ve had.

After breakfast, we each made our way to our campers and started gathering things up and packing for the trip home. There are always last minute reminders of something left at the campfire, but soon enough, we were all giving covid-approved hugs (faces turned away…no lingering…and only with another vaccinated camper) and declaring this the best trip yet. (Aren’t they all???)

It’s always sad to say goodbye to good friends, but we camp together at least twice a year, and we FaceTime at least once a week during the winter to make the time go faster. We always learn something new with each new campout that we can take forward to make camping even more fun! Like this cool collapsible electric tea kettle. Mr. FixIt went without his beloved nightly tea ritual while we were traveling to and from Colorado. If we would have had one of these, it would have made it easier to do. And, instead of heating up your hot water tank in the camper to do a few dishes, you can heat water up in this, add it to cold in the sink, and get your dishes done in a hurry! It pays to hang with camper chicks!

“Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.”

1 John 4:11-12 NIV
