Thwarting a Spiritual Attack

Psalm 126:6
“Man says…show me and I’ll trust you. God says…trust me and I’ll show you.” Psalm 126:6

So, I was minding my own business, tucked under my blanket, happily knitting when I got a text . My dear friends Janine and Gail and I have a chat room where we visit just about every day. Janine was traveling through and was stopping at Gail’s to spend the night. I was three hours away but I wasn’t going to miss out on seeing my good friends. Impromptu road trip!

I got here just after dark. Janine had her friend Diane with her and I was thrilled to meet her. Another friend, Jan, came to join us and we just had a grand time. Diane is a devout Christian and is a PR person. Jan is a retired pastor. You can imagine our entire evening was talking about our stories and how God has worked in our lives.

I was standing in the kitchen giving Diane my testimony about finding Jesus when I started feeling ill. It worsened over the hour and I headed upstairs with a bucket, just in case. Everyone had gone to bed so when I came to Janine’s door I tapped.

“Janine?”

“Yes, dear.” She opened the door wide. Her smile quickly faded when she saw me. “Ginny? What’s wrong?” She came into the hall and touched my arm.

“Janine, I’m being spiritually attacked!”  I knew it as sure as I knew my own name. I was suddenly, violently ill.

I spent the prior twenty-four hours pretty immersed in Jesus. I watched War Room…a powerful movie about spiritual warfare. Then I came to Gail’s and spent a whole evening talking about very powerful, spiritual things. There were five very strong women engaged in animated spiritual conversation.

Janine and Diane came into the room and laid hands on me and prayed fervently. Within a half hour, I felt much better.

If you don’t believe in such a thing as spiritual warfare, I am here to tell you it’s a very real thing. The enemy does not like when powerful, spiritual women start professing faith like we were. But his power is in whispering lies and making you believe things that are not real. We sent him packing. A whole army of angels surrounded me and kicked his butt! We can just rejoice in that for a while, ok? I believe! ❤️

“Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.””

Matthew 16:23 NIV

  1. I believe ! And we must rebuke him and his demons in the name of Jesus . And if one is blessed to have a friend that they can get into contact with , don’t hesitate to contact that friend and share your need . I was under an attack one night ….long story , but the bottom line my friend always went to bed early….I was so desperate because I knew I was under attack that I stopped by the computer and jotted her a brief email ( before texts ) . To my suprise she immediately answered and simply said ,” I will pray for the angels to come .” Within mere minutes , the angels did come . I have never had an experience like that . I didn’t see them but they WERE THERE PROTECTING me from the fiery darts . ( Sidenote : I had such a peace that I actually wonder if I were dying. I did ! It was so surreal .). I had two of them in my home all night , and they protected me until the next morning as we left for my medical procedure . What a friend !!! May I be that friend to someone !! Glory to God for His faithfulness .

  2. I learned about spiritual warfare as a child. I lived in a house that was possessed with demons and every night I would just repeat the name of Jesus over and over till I fell asleep. I totally am a believer. Thank you for sharing your story.

  3. I’m glad you knew what to do (ask for prayer) and Janine was there to give it. You are being such a witness, you are worthy of attack, which a lot of people aren’t. Praying you will continue in your witness and shine a light.
