The WORST Advice

We’ve all heard it. Those remarks that absolutely cut you to the quick. Things you can’t believe a thinking, feeling human being could possibly think would be helpful. Things that, if you weren’t in such a fog to realize how awful they were, you just might strike someone a blow to their forehead and scream, “Get away from me with that!”

I’m all about focusing on the positive. I try to bring goodness and light to this page every day. And I believe people have the best of intentions when they speak to the bereaved. They just don’t know how to. We are uncomfortable in the society talking about grief and death and loss. It’s painful. It’s messy. It hits too darned close to home and makes people uncomfortable. They want YOU to feel better so THEY can feel better.

I’m writing an article on what NOT to say to someone who has suffered loss. You can help me by sharing. What is the worst advice or remark you were given when dealing with grief? Tomorrow, we’ll get to what was the best, but today….give me those things that just weren’t helpful. We need to educate the masses.
