The Other Half of the Story

So, I only told you the first half of the story of running into my old friend, Pastor Jim, at the Kroger store a couple weeks ago. I told you I was wandering the aisles when he popped into my mind…a face and name I hadn’t seen nor heard of in almost 45 years. Then, when I went into the mysteriously short checkout line…there he was!

Well, we vowed to not lose touch. I gave him my business card and told him to look me up on Facebook. Later in the evening, Jim sent me a text with his cell number and asked me to contact him. I called and after catching me up on his life, I dove into my story. I ended with Marshmallow Ranch and how God put it on my heart a year ago to write scripture at the bottom of each post. I told him I pray over my keyboard, asking God to bring me the words He wants me to say, the people who need the message, and to please make my writing lucrative. Jim preached to me for a little bit about Matthew 7:7 and about ASK, SEEK, and KNOCK being active words. We need to do all three. I felt something open in my heart…a window? A door? Whatever it was, love, power, and understanding rushed in.

This is the part I didn’t tell you. Our conversation ended pretty shortly after Jim’s impromptu mini-sermon and I set about praying. I said my usual prayer. I ASKED. But, then I SOUGHT. I looked for God to tell me how I could better serve him. What did he need from me to make this happen? And, I knocked on the door to His heart so He could open it up and shower me with His blessings. I spent about thirty minutes in prayer. Then…

My phone “dinged”, signaling there was a message…sent through Marshmallow Ranch.

“Hi! My name is Italia…”

My soon-to-be agent was texting me, introducing herself. Wow! The timing was not lost on me. It couldn’t have been any more glaringly obvious who orchestrated this.

God is good…all the time!
