The Golden Arch

Golden, Colorado
The Golden Arch over downtown Golden, Colorado.”

When Hubby #2 & I parted company, I bought a house about twelve miles west in a little cow town called New Castle. About a year later, my neighbors sold their house to a lovely couple. Bob & Ellie were the sweetest people you would ever want to meet and we soon became very close friends. They were instrumental in my becoming a Christian and prayed for me unceasingly.

If life is anything, it’s unpredictable and changes came that took us in different directions geographically. Mr. Virgo and I were married and moved to Pagosa Springs within a year. Shortly afterward, Bob & Ellie sold their house and moved to Golden. We have always stayed in touch, and they were a wonderful source of love and support when Mr. Virgo died.

They have followed my journey via my blog and the occasional texts and phone calls. They came to our belated wedding celebration Sunday and invited us to their house for dinner last night. They are so thrilled for Mr. FixIt and me. They have been looking forward to meeting him and having a chance to get to know him better.

Dinner wasn’t scheduled till 5:00 so we went over to Golden early to explore. It was a really hot July afternoon so we were happy to duck into the occasional shop to catch our breath in the air conditioning. We stopped in a little coffee shop for an iced coffee. We browsed an antique store. Mr. FixIt is a good shopper…he looks through the racks of ladies clothes and picks out things he likes. He has great taste!

It was a lovely evening. We couldn’t believe the time had flown by and we said our goodbyes. That’s the sign of good friends when you have known each other for ages and you can still talk for five hours over dinner. It was 82 degrees as we drove back to Ben & Sue’s house. The moon was full…and so were our hearts.

It’s supposed to be blazing hot the next couple of days with temps in the triple digits. I’m not sure what we’re going to do but whatever it is, it will entail air conditioning and not overdoing things.

You all be safe out there and stay hydrated.

❤️

“It will be a shelter and shade from the heat of the day, and a refuge and hiding place from the storm and rain.”    Isaiah 4:6 NIV
