The Big Birdhouse is Back!

FINALLY!!! After being in the shop more than we actually had her, the a-frame is back from the camper doctor. And she looks absolutely perfect…almost like a brand spankin’ new camper. I say “almost” because when we opened her up for her final inspection, the very first thing I saw was a huge scratch across the front of the refrigerator door that wasn’t there the last time we saw her in September. Oy! It’s ok though…they are ordering a new refrigerator door that will be delivered to us and we just have to pop it on. No problem!

We stopped at Menard’s and bought some new tarps. The one on Joy, the ‘67 Franklin is ripped so we needed a new one for her. We also needed one for a couple things we have stored outdoors. And I wanted a great big one that absolutely wraps up the a-frame so there isn’t the least bit of chance it will leak. Then, in the spring, we’ll put her up for sale.

Mr. FixIt and I were talking about the details of all she’s been through and he was worried it might deter someone from buying her. But, here’s how I look at it. Every new camper…no matter how expensive or well made…is going to have bugs to work out that first year. That’s what the warranty is there for. This particular camper had a few more bugs than usual, but we’ve stayed right on top of it, addressed each issue, and rectified it with repairs that made her better than new. So, I feel confident someone is still going to get a beautiful, useful camper that will give them years of pleasure. Really, the only reason we wouldn’t keep her is our age and Mr. FixIt’s balance. It’s meant for a younger, stronger person who wants to get out in the woods and have some fun. And besides, we have Grace, the 2021 Jayco.

It was almost dark when we got home. We quickly parked the camper and covered her up for the winter. We tied the tarp down with sturdy ropes instead of bungee cords. Bungees seem to deteriorate so fast out in the sun and rain. We had supper on the way home from the RV dealership. After we watched the news, I made some peanut butter cookies with the recipe I shared in a video for National Cookie Day. They were delish! Here’s the recipe:

Peanut Butter Cookies

1 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg

Mix ingredients together. Chill ti stiffen dough. Roll into balls, place on parchment lined cookie sheet, and flatten with fork or press a chocolate kiss on top. Bake at 350° for 10-15 minutes till done. Let cool some before removing to wire cooling rack. Makes about a dozen medium sized cookies. Enjoy!

I received a book in the mail that I ordered from eBay and I was so excited to get it. It’s about knitting Fair Isle and I really want to master that this winter. Imagine my dismay when I opened the package and it was a book on crocheting granny squares! lol Don’t get me wrong…I love granny squares, but this was NOT what I was looking for. I immediately wrote to the seller with a photo of the book I received and he apologized profusely for selecting the wrong one from the shelf. He’s sending me the correct one today and told me to either keep or donate the book that was sent in error. That was so kind of him…the only thing I dislike more than getting the wrong item, it’s having to package it all back up to return it. It’s a king-sized hassle. Instead, I’m going to gift it to Daughter #1 who crochets! Win/Win!!
