The August Night Symphony

Deep in the dregs of January, I could kick myself for not spending more time outdoors in the summer…especially in the evenings. I got a text from our good friend Steve last night. He said he’d heard there was a possibility we could see the Northern Lights if the sky was clear and dark. I said, “Come on out!”

We set up chairs out in the field…three friends, listening to a symphony of sound surrounding us. We didn’t see any of the Aurora Borealis, but we did catch lots of shooting stars and satellites. And, it was 11:30 when we gave up and came inside. I’d missed my creativity window by a country mile and I almost decided to just post a repeat. However, every day is remarkable in one way or another, so I’m here…typing in the wee hours.

We worked on the steps today and got one railing finished. Mr. FixIt went out after supper and put cement in the postholes. We’ll work on the other side today if it isn’t too hot. I trimmed a lot out of the forsythia on the road side of the yard. Everything gets totally out of hand by this time of year. I spent some time knitting on this sweater. I finished the bottom ribbing and used a stretchy cast-off. I picked up the stitches for one of the sleeves and have it done down to the elbow.

“Yet among the winged insects that go on all fours you may eat those that have jointed legs above their feet, with which to hop on the ground. Of them you may eat: the locust of any kind, the bald locust of any kind, the cricket of any kind, and the grasshopper of any kind.”

Leviticus 11:21-22 ESV
