Taking a Break

I realized the other day how much I enjoy social media. “Enjoy” is a kind way of saying I cannot unhook from my phone, iPad, and laptop. Cannot. The thought sends feelings of dread through me. What if someone needs me? What if I miss something? What will they think if I don’t write back in a timely fashion? What if they just came on board…will they stay if they’re met with this “Declaration of Independence”? It’s ridiculous. But it’s so true. It has contributed to my sedentary lifestyle and subsequent weight gain. In keeping with my new “Strive to Thrive” message, I’m unplugging till Monday, March 21st. Not absolutely unplugging like…locking my phone in the car. I have a brother with a developmental disability that I need to be available for. So, I vow to check my phone once in the morning and once in the evening for the next six days!

See you Monday!

“The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place.”

Mark 6:30-32 NIV
