Still Winter After All These Years

Winter
“Still winter in your neck of the woods?”

We live in a house of the ‘70s. The dead giveaway for that is the sliding doors on the closets have mirrors. While I am not excited about the decorating style of such things, I do love that I can open my eyes in the morning and see the bedroom window reflected in the mirror. When I awoke yesterday, big puffy snowflakes the size of marshmallows were floating down. Even though I am WAY over the winter thing, I’ve got to tell you…it was such a serene scene, I just laid there and looked at it for a long time.

One of the better things about being retired is not having to commute in bad weather. I heard the salt trucks going up and down the road several times and I was grateful to know my “commute” was going to be a hundred foot walk out to TOW-Wanda. I took three days off and gave myself some distance from the rough draft. Now it’s time to work on the editing.

When I was in church Sunday, Pastor Justin asked us if there were areas of our lives we needed a little extra help with. If so, he invited us forward in an altar call. I was feeling a little fried when I finished writing on the 28th. I found myself dreading the editing because I find it tedious. Also, it makes me read the book over and over and over and I get to thinking no on in their right mind would want to read it.

When I went up for the altar call, my prayer was simple…

“Father God…give me fresh eyes and enthusiasm to edit this rough draft…every single time I read it. Make whatever needs fixing stand out like a sore thumb. Bring the words you want me to say and the readers who need them. It’s all for Your Glory.”

Pastor Justin came up behind me and put his hand on my head and prayed over me. And, I have to tell you…when I woke up and looked outside yesterday morning, I could hardly wait to get out there and get started! I never once looked at it as a chore. Attitude is everything and I’m grateful to have a change in mine when it comes to this.

The master bath is coming along slowly but surely. We drove to town yesterday afternoon and bought the new flooring and a toilet. We bought the paint on Saturday. I’m glad Mr. FixIt and I both have projects going. It makes the winter much more bearable. ❤️

“Then Peter and John laid their hands upon these believers, and they received the Holy Spirit.”

Acts of the Apostles 8:17 NLT
