Somebody Bring Me a Bottle!

Be still, my heart…this green!

No…I’m not looking for a drink. I gave that up twenty-one plus years ago. What I want is a bottle that I can preserve this day in. Some way to put it on a shelf and save it up for January. Honestly, it could not have been a more beautiful day. With a high of 74° and a clear bluebird sky with a lovely breeze and brilliant sunshine, the green was so intense it almost hurt your eyes!

Mr. FixIt ran to town first thing to tie up the tomatoes and do a little weeding. I ran to town to see if my package I’ve been waiting for was at the post office, but it was already out for delivery. I’ve been waiting for the new mounting bolts for the carburetor that I replaced on the push mower. I thought six were in the package, even though it only takes two. Well, when the mail was delivered later, there was only one bolt. I held my breath as I installed it because it doesn’t take much to strip the threads.

I got the bolts in…one old, one new. I turned the gas flow on and waited. No leaks!!! Whew! Now, to start it. It turned over on the second pull, but the throttle still surges. Doggone it. We fiddled with it and got to where it will mow, but something still isn’t right. We’ll have to take it in and see if they can adjust that throttle or perhaps it’s a fuel line issue. In the meantime, it is workable…enough to do what we need it to do, anyway.

I went ahead and finished with the riding mower and Mr. FixIt ran the weed eater. He mowed half the back yard with the push mower and I finished the other half. Somehow when we were working on the carburetor, I injured my wrist pushing myself up off the ground. I’ve had a little trouble with the joint at the base of my left thumb, but now it’s bigger trouble. I’ve got a thumb stabilizing wrist splint on it to keep from banging it and to remind me not to try to put my weight on it to get up.

I can still knit, though. So…there’s that!

Dodged a bullet on that one!

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

  1. Thank you for allowing a ‘returner’. I will enjoy and comment at times. My pup is Maisy Mae. Named Mae after my favorite Auntie, and the Maisy part just sorta evolved. She is a sweetie. Sitting at my feet now, telling me it is bedtime. So, I will sign off.

  2. Hot as blazes here! I am alive! I will survive! To answer your question, I moved in 2013, stopped using a PC and so I guess I quit reading your posts in early 2013. When I began I don’t think you had met Mr Fixit!
I will follow and start reading and browsing again.
