SO Much Mowing!

Two little mushrooms under the maple tree.

When we got home a week ago, the grass was so long I had to cut it on 5 to keep from popping the belt off the mower deck. I knew I’d be mowing later in the week because 5 isn’t very short. I mowed yesterday on 4 to get caught up and maybe not have to mow for another week. The fall grass is growing now and it’s rough and tough to mow. I didn’t like the way the mower sounded so I came in off the field to grease the fittings in the steering and the wheels. I couldn’t get to the fitting for the steering column because it was too hot. Mr. FixIt use the air compressor and blew off all the extra grass so we can run it up on the truck ramps soon and hit that fitting with some grease. In the meantime, he sprayed a little WD40 on it and it sounds a lot better.

It rained at least five inches last month…maybe more with evaporation.

It was really hot out there on the tractor. I drove around with the golf umbrella to keep the sun off. We bought these little fan gizmos that fit across the back of your neck and over your collar bones. They have three fan speeds and while it didn’t really cool me off, the breeze was nice. I was so glad when I was finally finished. Mr. FixIt mowed inside the fence because it’s supposed to rain here today. We’ve really had a nice week weather wise. A little cooler.

Mr. FixIt’s Elephant Ears…we get more and more every year!

I was hoping to get out to the farm yesterday but mowing always takes precedence. Now that I have that behind me, I can pack up a few things and get out there for my summer farm fix. Mr. FixIt has his first bowling meeting of the year tonight and football has been on TV already. You can just feel summer wrapping up. Daughter #1 is preparing for the school year. The new teacher they hired decided to take a different job, as did the new clerk…three weeks before school started. So she’s definitely going to have her work cut out for her shifting schedules around and getting someone hired.

Please pray for the students, teachers, and staff for the new school year. God, please keep them safe!
