So Long, Betty!

I think it’s rather fitting that, on the last day of what was probably one of our most challenging years since WWII…God would take Betty home. I think those who really enjoyed Betty White’s sassy sense of humor truly wish we could have helped her celebrate her 100th birthday. Then again, maybe she just knew when it was time to make a graceful exit.

I’ve always loved Betty’s depiction of Rose on Golden Girls. The ditzy widow from St. Olaf, Minnesota cracked me up time after time. Mr. FixIt and I love to end our days snuggled under the covers and watching funny comedy clips. We often watch Dorothy, Blanche, Rose, and Sophia as they share a home in Miami and laugh at their antics. While the rest of the cast is certainly funny, it’s Rose that steals the show for me.

It’s hard to believe 2021 is finally over. I swear, this seemed like the year that would NEVER end. It was full of challenges. But it was full of beauty, too. There was travel, camping, visitors, family, old friends and new friends, birthdays, anniversaries. There were campfires and cookouts, antiquing and baking, gathering and letting go. Goodbyes are some of the hardest things we have to endure in life…and there were too many of those this year.

Our first rule of the new year…don’t dwell on what went wrong last year. We ended the year full of hope for 2022.

May you and yours enjoy safety, good health, and prosperity in the year to come!

Happy New Year!

““Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

Isaiah 43:18-19 ESV
