Shopped Till I Dropped

Wounded knee
“I shopped till I dropped!”

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:16-18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Yesterday was my special day with Big. She is fourteen so our yearly one-on-one is normally focused on fashion. Our trip to the mall began at the opening bell and ended at 3:00. That’s five hours of walking from one end to the other and back…several times. My suddenly sixty-five year old knee said, “What are you doing to me??? Get thee to a restaurant!”

Big and I took our time over huge yummy salads at California Pizza Kitchen. We discussed her upcoming entry into high school. We talked about making our visits really count since I only get one a year. We promised to text, call, and FaceTime more often to stay connected.

This little gal is quite the shopper. She searches for the best deals and gets a ton of stuff for her money. She is stylish, yet conservative. Being a swimmer means you have broad shoulders so shirts and jackets don’t always fit well. She was thrilled with her purchases and I was thrilled to have that alone time with her. She is such a good person.

I came home and stretched out and when I woke from my power nap, my knee was really hurting. Ice and naproxen and rest. What on earth has happened to my body? I turned sixty-five. It’s like anything else…it breaks down the week after the warranty expires. Oy! ❤️

  1. Ginny I’m 76 and feel like 106 some days. Haha
Right now I’m dealing with sciatic nerve pain all down my right side and leg. And since I usually sleep on my right side my nights are the pits.
I pride myself on keeping on the go but some days it’s just too much lately.
Take care and I’m so happy that you had precious time with your Granddaughter. I know you cherish that special time.
