Santa Came Early!

The other day, one of my besties…Gail…posted that she got a circular knitting loom and it’s a game changer. Not wanting to be left out, I started researching them. At the same time, one of the gals at knitting group told us she had one and went home to get it. She gave us a demonstration and I was sold. I ordered one online and it arrived Friday Afternoon. We had the Class Christmas Dinner Friday night so I had to wait till yesterday to play with it.

Right out of the box, I’ll tell you it was great fun. I can knit a lot faster and it doesn’t hurt my wrists. I made two hats. Then I experimented with different yarns. It definitely doesn’t like the fancy yarns, but it did a really nice job with worsted weight. I can actually make handmade things with this that I can sell in my Etsy shop so keep an eye out for that.

The knitting loom certainly doesn’t take the place of hand knitting. I pulled out the Christmas stocking I started last year and wondered if maybe I could make them on the loom. I found a pattern and tried it. OMGosh! Y’all…it was HUGE! I’ll have to tell Mr. FixIt it’s MY stocking and he gets to fill it! lol I wish I would have knitted more on the stockings this year. I may have to wait till next year to gift them.

We woke up to rain yesterday morning and that took care of the roofing job till next week. The guys came out to seal around the exhaust pipes and clean the gutters so the rain wouldn’t wash debris down the storm drains. Mr. FixIt is one of the most gregarious people I’ve ever met. People seem to be drawn to him and he can talk to anyone. The owner of the construction company came out with the workers and visited with us for a good hour. He and his dad did some work on this house back in the early ‘80s and they know a lot of the same people.

Actually, after living here for seven years, I’m finally running into people I know in our little town and I love it! Mr. FixIt isn’t the only gregarious person in the family, I guess. I hope you are enjoying the weekend and taking some time for yourselves. Remember, you can’t fill anyone else’s cup if yours is empty!
