Relationship

Someone torched a Republican campaign office in North Carolina over the weekend. They threw a Molotov cocktail through the front window and painted swastikas on the front along with demands they leave the area “or else”. In a remarkable show of grace, local Democrats raised $13,000 and gave it to the Republicans with the comment “Now is the time for graciousness…not fractiousness.” I felt encouraged.

We vote the 8th…but what’s going to happen November 9th? There’s going to be a winner. And…there’s going to be a loser. We don’t all get a trophy just because we played the game. This isn’t kindergarten. There are going to be a lot of angry people on that particular Wednesday morning. And likely for some time after. Someone is going to have to give or this is no better than two cars playing chicken at a one lane bridge.

Relationship. Somehow we’re going to have to put the U back in United. The Bible says…”Love your enemy.” Unless we want another repeat of the Civil War, we need to all get along. I pray for the other camp every day…even when it makes me uncomfortable. Especially BECAUSE it makes me uncomfortable. We might as well start praying those extra prayers for grace now, because come November 9th…we’re going to need them.

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.”

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:23-25‬ ‭
