Praise and Pumpkins

Pumpkin
“Pumpkins seem pretty pricey this year!”

“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.”  Philippians 4:19-20 ESV

I went to my small group from church last night. I shared with them my decision to go back to the farm until Mr. FixIt and I get married. I also shared what happened with the trucks. When I wrote yesterday’s post, I was concerned with the possible cost of repairs or, heaven forbid, replacement of two vehicles. So, I prayed. Fervently.

Our pastor has been stressing the importance of praying as if your prayer has already been answered. So I thanked God for fixing it so that we didn’t have to replace our vehicles. I thanked him for making the repairs simple and affordable. I also thanked him for being a loving Father and for taking such good care of us.

Yesterday morning, I called the Ford dealer and told him about my wheel screaming and that I really needed it looked at quickly because I can’t be without my truck. He said to bring it right in. Blessing #1. I backed down the driveway onto the road, put it in drive, and the scream totally disappeared. Blessing #2. I drove the hour to the Ford dealer, explained what was going on, and they took the truck right back. I waited in the lounge for an hour then the mechanic came out to get me. He told me there was a plate that had moved a little and that’s what was making my back brakes squeak when I back up. He fixed that. He said he went over the entire brake system and it was fine. When I asked him how much I owed him, he said “Not a thing.” Blessing #3. Then Mr. FixIt called. He met with the Toyota garage and determined most of what they wanted to fix was either something he could fix himself, or something that wasn’t at all urgent. They agreed to a couple of small things that needed fixing more urgently, and the total was under $400. Blessing #4!

These blessings…are they coincidence? I don’t think so. I don’t believe in coincidences or accidents. Are they because I made a commitment to do the right thing in honoring God before we get married? I do not know the mind of God, but if I were a betting person, I’d say there’s a pretty good chance that’s exactly what happened.

The rest of the day was spent running errands before I headed to small group from church. I bought two big galvanized tubs to put ice and drinks in for the wedding. I picked up a few more invitations and got them sent out. I bought some burlap ribbon for the bridal bouquet. And I went on the search for pumpkins for decorating the tent. However, I am NOT paying $10 a piece for them! This was at a produce market north of Marietta, OH. I’m also not buying mums till next week. If they are blooming now, they will be sticks by the time the wedding gets here. Still haven’t firmed up the officiant. Everything else is coming together nicely! Oh, this is going to be SO much fun!!! ❤️

  1. I was gonna say, your truck was almost brand new, not still under warranty?? Sounds like your mechanic is old school (thumbs up)
Darn those unforseen expense worries. Glad it worked out.

  2. If you can, buy potted or cut mums BEFORE they are fully open. They open and last much longer if you cut the stems daily, water daily (remove any pot covers) and keep them outside at night.

  3. A Fall wedding is gorgeous. One of my Grandsons was married the thank rd week of October and what a beautiful day it was. I wish I lived close se to you, my daughter Sue used to make pumpkins out of sweaters and Fall fabrics and I have 21 I could have lent you to decorate. Much happiness!

  4. Watching you over the past few years – I always saw God working in your life – you have quite a testimony- so happy for you!

  5. Have someone take lots of pictures and post them. And, we want to see Mr. Fixit❗️
Have fun making all of your arrangements and at the wedding itself. God bless❣️

    1. I’ll post lots of pictures, but Mr. FixIt is kinda off limits. You might get a picture from behind or blurred out, though. I give everything of myself to my blog. Mr. FixIt’s name and face are the only things I have to keep just for me. ?❤️
