Playing Tourist

Alley, Richmond, Indiana

We drove into Richmond yesterday and looked around the Depot District. We went around the block and found this really cool alley with paintings on all the windows and old doorways. I love little surprising art finds around cities and towns. We wandered through Two Sisters Used Books where I found The Prayer of Jabez a couple years ago. We browsed through a huge furniture store and stopped at a coffee shop. Then headed for Oxford, Ohio.

We ate dinner at the Steinkeller Restaurant and we’re very disappointed that Dave…the lederhosen wearing, accordion playing, Uptown Funk singing  entertainer wasn’t there. Apparently he doesn’t perform in the summer when the students are gone  they were hoping he would show up again since classes start at Miami university on Monday. We asked our waitperson about him. I told her I was so glad the students didn’t make fun of him. She said the students love him and sometimes they would hang around in the restaurant till 2:00AM…long after closing time…singing along with Dave  I hope he comes back this year. The world needs more Daves.

Insomnia Cookies, Oxford, Ohio

I love the Insomnia Cookie Shop. They’ll deliver warm cookies till three in the morning. Hey, it’s a college town…kids are up late studying. I’m sure it’s nothing else…you know, like the munchies or anything. Just late night study sessions and the need for a warm cookie at 3:00AM, right?

Tree in Indiana campground

I’m trying to figure out what this tree is beside the camper. Last night whatever is growing on it was falling on the roof with a clatter. The leaves look like hickory but smaller and the pods look different than the hickory on the farm. I’ll let you know when I find out what it is. I asked Fred, my tree guy but haven’t heard back yet.

Starcraft Launch UltraLite 24RLS

As you can see, TOW-Wanda is still looking good. When she was in the shop at Camping World, they were detailing the camper next to her and splashed suds all over her. So, she got a free bath.

We head home today! ❤️

“And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food.”

  1. Oh Ginny I wish I had known you were up in Oxford yesterday. I would have come up just to meet you. I only live about 25 minutes from there. It’s a beautiful college town. One of my Grandsons graduated from there. Sounds like u had a very enjoyable few days. Love the pics

  2. Hi Ginny, I think it might be a chestnut tree. And by the way I am headed to Philadelphia to meet our newest grandchild, Adeline Grace Maersch who will be 1month old on Sunday. Tomorrow it will be my 64th birthday as well as her mothers.

  3. Pretty sure it’s a buckeye tree…. if you’re lucky you can get them before the squirrels do! They drop off the tree and three piece outer shell falls off and you get a shiny lucky buckeye!
