Pennies from Heaven

Penny
“Found pennies…is it God reminding us to trust him?”

How many of you seem to find an inordinate number of coins since your person died? Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve found coins…sometimes every day…sometimes several times a day. You’ve all heard “See a penny, pick it up. All the day you’ll have good luck!” When you marry in England, you wear “something borrowed, something blue, a lucky sixpence in your shoe.”

Mr. FixIt and I found a penny one time that had the shape of a cross cut out of it. That was quite the find! Since Mr. Virgo died, I’ve found more and more coins. I’ve been told they are “angel pennies”…placed in your path to let you know your loved one is thinking of you. I don’t know if that is the case, but it’s a sweet sentiment.

When I pick up any coin, I turn it heads up and read what is stamped along the edge. “In God We Trust”. I read this and smile. It’s like God is sending me a little reminder…”Trust in me. Stop worrying about whatever is rumbling around in that brain of yours and place your trust where it belongs.” I put the angel pennies I find in special places…my night stand, the dash in my truck, the pocket of my coat or jeans. These found coins continue to remind me as I come and go to remember who’s got my back. Who loves me more than all others. Who has saved me.

My guess is…you will never look at a penny the same again. And you just might find yourself seeing more and more of them. ❤️

“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care.”  Matthew 10:29 NIV

  1. I have been finding pennies in the strangest of places and always when I’m feeling low or blue. My husband died unexpectedly from a heart attack in Sept of 2008 at the age of 46. At a church Christmas craft fair that year I found a beautiful “Pennies From Heaven” poem with a bright shiny penny attached. I bought 20 of them and put them in all the Christmas cards I mailed out that year. I have a special “piggy bank” shaped like a cowboy boot that I keep them in. I love finding pennies and cherish each one!

  2. Dad died 12/17 – 3 days later pennies started showing up and currently are 3 on my end table that neither of us put there. Have found in parking lots, restaurants, kitchen floor, everywhere!!

  3. When I was young… my Grandmother would tape old coins from Italy inside my birthday cards. Sadly my Grandmother passed when I was 10 yrs old. Many years later, While spending a year exploring her roots in Italy, I was standing admiring an “Amazing Idellyic Italian” view of the countryside … I looked down briefly and saw a small pile of OLD Italian coins between my feet!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

  4. My husband is a retired letter carrier. He spent many years walking sidewalks/finding coins. He has saved every one in his Angel jar which there are now several Angel jars. It means the same to him/us. Loosing a child is what began his journey.

  5. I was on my evening jog around the strip mall parking lot…a place where I would invariably find pennies. One evening I asked the Lord if He would let me see a nickel, as a “Hello” from my parents in Heaven (my maiden name is Nichols). As I made a turn up an aisle, I looked towards the setting sun and noticed something glistening several feet away. Yep, it was a nickel! My heart swelled with joy and my eyes filled with tears. Thank you, God! I really, really needed that. :o) ((I love your blog!))
