Packing Light

Bush Lily

Bush Lily preparing to bloom; Elephant Ears behind

I swore I wasn’t going to go to town yesterday. SWORE! But, Mr. FixIt reminded me I needed to have blood drawn so I gave in and went with him. We left about 11:00 and didn’t get home till 7:00 last night! There is no such thing as a quick trip to town. *sigh* The bad part was, as I sat in the lobby waiting to be called into the lab, I got to thinking. “Why on earth would that doctor want my blood drawn so soon? I just had it done last week!”

I rummaged around in my purse and found the lab order. I read the whole thing then found, in small print at the top…Day of Service: 10/02/2021. For crying out loud…it was the order to have done the week before my followup visit. Oy! I took my name off the list and headed to the mall to walk with Mr. FixIt. We did our lap and stopped in the sporting goods store to see if there was anything interesting. There wasn’t.

We went to a local RV service and supply store and bought an electric hitch jack for the new camper. The one on it is a hand crank model and it takes forever to move up and down. Mr. FixIt will install it today and it will make setting up a breeze.

Our next stop was the DMV to get the title of the new camper put in our names and get the plate. AND…pay the sales tax. Ouch. You know it’s coming, but you’ve had a couple of days to have fun with the camper and forget about the money you’re going to have to spend to make it legal. Ah, well…you can’t take it with you. Unfortunately, it was a three hour wait. Mr. FixIt elected not to come in with me. Lucky man. There was one person wearing a mask. Well, two…I was wearing one. There’s a variant out there people. Please be safe.

I texted my sweetheart and proposed we use our gift certificate to Texas Roadhouse and get steak for supper. I mean…that’s the perfect reward for sitting in the DMV all afternoon, right? We picked up our meals and drove to the City Park and had a lovely date in the shade. A quick stop at Walmart, and we headed home.

We are going camping this weekend so I need to stock the camper, get out our two trunks we use to store our camping supplies, and get things ready. This small camper is forcing us to be minimalists…something neither one of us are particularly good at. Well…one of us more than the other. lol It will be interesting to see how we do with the little lady.

In the meantime…I am NOT going to town today!!!
