My Hygge Christmas

Comfort gifts
“Mr. FixIt is a good gift giver…exactly what I would have picked out for myself!”

“Hygge is a Danish and Norwegian word for a mood of coziness and comfortable conviviality with feelings of wellness and contentment.” Wikipedia

I don’t think I have ever had a more relaxing Christmas Day in my life as I had this year. Mr. FixIt gave me Christmas jammies on Christmas Eve and I never changed out of them yesterday. I ate chocolate cake for breakfast. I knitted all day. I caught up with loved ones on the phone and via chat. Mr. FixIt and I watch movies all day. I ate leftover chili…and chocolate.

I was totally pleased with my gifts from my sweetheart. The sweater is the most gorgeous color, style, and fit. The book is something I really wanted. And the travel mugs are lovely. I think he’s setting me up for a winter of comfort! Exactly what I need after a long season of hard work keeping up two big properties. I have some projects to do this winter…writing, home, and business things. So, having this comfort break is just what the doctor ordered!

There are so many who are missing their loved ones this season. If your heart is screaming “he/she should be here!”…you are not forgotten nor are you alone. My heart is with you…I remember that pain and I pray for comfort for you and yours. ❤️

“I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live. The cords of death entangled me, the anguish of the grave came over me; I was overcome by distress and sorrow. Then I called on the name of the Lord: “ Lord, save me!” The Lord is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion. The Lord protects the unwary; when I was brought low, he saved me. Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you. For you, Lord, have delivered me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before the Lord in the land of the living.”

Psalm 116:1-9 NIV

  1. What a beautiful way to spend Christmas together. You’ve inspired me and encouraged me with the simple beauty of your day. My sweetheart and I are trying to adjust to Christmas that has changed since the passing of my dear mother our last parent to pass into the glory of Heaven. She was always ‘the queen’ of Christmas and family gatherings. Our children and grandchildren are nearby so celebrations with them were special again this year. Your day sounds marvelous – especially the chocolate cake for breakfast!

  2. Our Christmas was busy and fun. We spent as much time together as a family knowing it would be 4 yrs before we would all be together again.
