Motivation Monday

I met a great gal this spring from my hometown. We have a mutual friend who connected her to Marshmallow Ranch because she was just at the one year Angelversary of her husband’s death. We met for coffee one day and ended up talking for four hours at Panera! She recently posted this…her “Dear Self” note drawn on her hand. I absolutely love this. It really speaks to me. It’s a work of art. I have had a lot of “Dear Self” conversations since Mr. Virgo died.

Grief takes a life that was a beautiful work of art and slashes the canvas. It smears the paints till they’re a muddy brown. No color. No definition. It’s so hard to look at that mess with any hope. Yet…look. Something as simple as colored markers on the palm of her hand has shown my friend that there can be beauty again. There can be colors. Sometimes we need a reminder.
There will come a day when you will feel like making the choice to see the beauty in life again. It’s a clean canvas. A fresh set of paints. Soft brushes. And new eyes.

“Dear Self…Today you will shine!”

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

Jeremiah 29:11-13 NIV
