More Winter Prep

I’d love to have a staff like Martha Stewart. Just take all my great ideas and assign the bulk of the heavy lifting to my wonderfully creative staff and I could get SO much more done, right? I made the huge mistake of asking Mr. FixIt what he wanted for breakfast. In my mind, a nice bowl of cereal would have worked great with my schedule. However, my sweetheart set his sights on poached eggs and toast. So, poached eggs and toast it was. And, I’ve made a serious commitment to never leave the kitchen till the dishes are done and everything is wiped down and ready for the next meal.

I sat down at the computer with my mushroom coffee. I got everything set up to work and got a solid hour in, but it wasn’t on NaNoWriMo. It was on a design I’ve had dancing around in my head that needed doing. When I went to get my second cup of RYZE, Mr. FixIt asked if I was ready to start mowing. Uhhhh, sure! With no second cup, I slipped on my shoes and went out to mulch up the leaves. The good part of that was only mowing over the outer 8-10’ of the perimeter because that’s where the leaves fall. It was actually a beautiful day…sweatshirt weather.

Once I got that part of the job finished, I needed to fill the bird feeders for the first time this fall. I cleaned out the fridge in the camper and turned it off. I also went through the freezer in the garage and threw away anything that was freezer burned. I tidied up around the outside of the house and put away tools and things that we won’t be using anymore. I did some laundry. Everything looked neat and tidy when I was finished.

And it was time to make supper.

I could complain that it is all I do…cook, clean, mow, write. Then I remember the poor people in Gaza who don’t have food and water. I have the absolute privilege of living in a comfortable home that isn’t being bombed. I don’t have to break the bank when something needs fixed. When I started supper and Mr. FixIt asked if we had French fries, I have the convenience of a car that runs and is full of gas and a store less than three miles away where I can buy good food. And I have a healthy husband to cook for. I thank God every day for all the many blessings in my life. It is a joy to just be alive!

I had a couple of hours to myself last evening and got caught up on the things I wanted to do in the office.

Priorities. Privilege. Purpose. Prayer. I want for nothing.

Merry and Bright…this reminds me of two-color Norwegian Sweaters. Something nice and comforting on cold winter nights.
