LISTEN…Do You Hear That?

If you get too far away from the Signal, you can’t hear the Words.

Yesterday we talked about selective hearing loss. How sometimes it behooves us to be a little deaf. There are plenty of instances in which NOT listening can improve our lives. Not listening to God is not one of them.

You know when you are on a trip and you’re listening to the radio? You find a great station and for a while, you hear it really clearly. Then, the further you get away from the radio signal, the more static and white noise comes from the speakers.

Listening to God is like that, too. We get too far away from Him and we can’t hear Him clearly anymore. But, if we lean in and really listen, our frequencies align and we can hear Him calling to us. We can have conversations with Him. It’s all He has ever wanted from us really. Just to walk alongside us, hold our hand, and have a nice conversation.

We’re too busy. We’re too scattered. We’re spread too thin. And what if we DO hear something we think can only come from Him? Is this from God? I mean, I think it is…but, is it REALLY? We don’t often feel WORTHY to hear from God personally. He’s a Dad, though. Yeah…He’s a Dad who happens to be King of the Universe…but he still knows who you are. He knows your dreams and your desires.

Last month, I happened to catch a story on the local news. They have a new studio At WSAZ and have added an hourlong talk show before the news where they report special interest stories. When I saw that, I sent up a silent prayer and asked God to get me on that show so I could talk about this Raffle Trailer and the Girl Campers and the OH/WV Chapter.

Yesterday, I got a call from a friend in Huntington who is an RV Dealer. She had just gotten off the phone with WSAZ and they needed someone to come to Huntington to be on the show.

THE show!

Wow.

So…God and I are taking a road trip to Huntington today, with the camper, to record a couple segments for the show. If you’re in the viewing area, try to catch it at 4:00PM on Thursday. I’ll see if I can get a link and post it for you here.

I’m no more special than the average schmo on the street. I don’t have some sort of privilege or the number of God’s “back line”. I just stand close…and listen. And when I hear something, I obey. If I am wrong, I made a mistake. It’s a new day tomorrow. I just keep listening.

❤️

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.”

  1. Yay for your good news! I don’t know why I am always amazed when I hear God talking to me, or when a prayer is answered, but I am. I’m usually in a state of wonder. And it is never diminished. Just amazing. Have fun with your radio tapings. God is so good! ??
