Laying Low

Well, sort of. Dinner with friends and live music Friday night then a gabfest with a friend till the wee hours. Coffee with the girls yesterday morning and dinner out with a friend last night. With several naps in between. I feel like this guy….I need to stretch out and snooze! No chance for a few days at least. I have family to visit, work to have done on my camper, and all manner of errands getting settled back in.

While I am certainly tired from traveling…I’m not tired OF traveling. There’s still so much to see! I want to catch the leaves changing this fall. Then there’s a trip to the beach the first week of October. I feel more alive and awake and present than I ever have. I made it a point on the Black Hills trip to put my phone away…at least most of the time. I checked briefly at breakfast and at dinner. It’s amazing how addictive it is. We didn’t know what time it was or how to dress for the weather.

For Pete’s sake…what on earth did we do before the Internet? How did we ever survive? How did we parent? How would I have seen the blue and green streaks my oldest grandchild got in her hair this morning? It was so peaceful to stay present and connected to the life going on around me. Now, I need to continue that.

“When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.”

Proverbs 3:24
