It’s The Little Things

I have running water!!! Hallelujah! Honestly…I am one tough chick, but living without running water was beginning to wear on my sensibilities. I relied on the kindness of my friends to let me use their showers. I was a member of a gym for awhile in order to shower as long and as often as I wanted for $10 a month. AND…I could work out. Bonus! Some have wondered what I did about…ahem…a potty. I learned on a “girl camping” website to line the toilet with a heavy duty black plastic trash bag, open up an adult diaper and lay it in the bowl, and sprinkle with some of the blue tank deodorizer. You can go two or three days for liquids before gathering up the neck of the bag, giving it a good twist, and tying a knot. Solids must be disposed of right away. I know…gross. But, it’s no different than disposable baby diapers. I used cloth diapers for both of my girls so three or four diapers in the landfill a week for 12-14 weeks is not unconscionable. Ok, I feel guilty about it but don’t judge. I’m sacrificing here in other ways. I’m REALLY conserving water!

I joined the local running/walking club. I joined the runners. In typical Gemini fashion, I am already daydreaming about my first marathon. Yeah…like THAT’S gonna happen!!! Last night we were told by our really little coach (who wore a size 2!) that we were to walk 1/4, run 1/4, walk 1/4, run 1/4, then “cool down” with another 1/4 mile. We started running and the girl in front of me lasted around 50 feet before she started walking. I caught up with her and said, “You’re my girl!” And we encouraged each other the rest of the way. It really was over before we knew it but I’m going to be sore today. Did I mention I hate to exercise? One of my friends has me out there walking in the park. I’m up to 3-3.5 miles. Another friend and I are going out to walk/bike/kayak. Did I mention how much I HATE to exercise??? Ahhh, well….use it or lose it, right?

You should see my camper! I have it totally torn apart trying to organize and put things in tubs to store either in the truck or under the bed. Storage is at a premium so if it doesn’t do more than one thing, collapse into the size of a thimble or make my heart race with its beauty, it’s out of there. Ruthless, ruthless, ruthless!!!

Slim pickin’s at Marshmallow Ranch!

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
