Is It Just Me???

Me, after the week I’ve had with all these computer glitches!

Is it just me or are you having trouble with your electronics? My computer is glitchy. So is my iPad and iPhone. The TV picture has been pixelated for weeks now off and on. And don’t get me started on the internet! I’ve spent hours the last two days scanning my hard drives. Running virus scans. Backing up my iPad. Trying to dump extra data off of it. It’s frustrating. Why don’t things just work like they’re supposed to?

I know, I know…first world problems. We have become so entrenched in the digital age…how on earth would we do things if the whole system crashed? Younger generations don’t know a time without computers and cell phones and the internet. They wouldn’t know how to bank, how to write a check, how to…well, do just about anything.

I’m knee deep in this project and I’m loving it…except for the glitchy electronics. It can’t just be me. My dear friend Sue told me the other night they were also having trouble with their Roku and something else…phones, maybe. My e-mails aren’t even moving right. And it’s not just the WiFi. It’s cell data, too. But, I have to remind myself that we do live in the boonies and our service here is powered by two possums and a squirrel.

The good thing is, I’m moving ever forward.

I elected to stay home yesterday and try to tease out some of these snags in quiet. Mr. FixIt went to his appointment and ran errands. He brought home a bake-at-home pizza that he got for $5. Honestly, you could have read the newspaper through that crust. I’m here to tell ya…that was some of the most flavorful pizza I’ve ever had. Since the crust was so thin, it didn’t make me feel like I had a lead football in my stomach afterward. It’s from Mama Cozzi’s Pizza Kitchen. He bought it at Aldi’s…our new favorite grocery store. It’s billed as a cut rate market with items from around the world. The only staff on hand are the folks running the cash register and someone stocking the shelves and you have to bring your own bags or use the boxes they’re throwing out. That keeps the overhead low and it’s reflected in the prices.

Mr. FixIt is heading up to the WVU basketball game with his son and I’m staying here to get some more work done. I promise I’m going to get some fun stuff in as well. I’m glad I came up with this idea at this time of year…I have much more free time than I would in the summer.

As I was writing yesterday’s post, the date seemed familiar somehow. I thought about it a bit then it occurred to me…I married Hubby #1 fifty years ago. I know I’ve mentioned that in the past few weeks, but at the time, it just flew right over my head. I sent him a text and told him how glad I was we were still friends. I’ve known him even longer than I’ve known Mr. FixIt. Hubby #1 and I officially met in Junior High. His family and mine have been intertwined since before I was born.

I know there are people who get out of horrible marriages and have nothing to do with their exes. I can understand that it’s different for everyone and I don’t judge them one bit. I’m fortunate to have two ex-husbands that I managed to remain friends…even family…with. I worked hard for that connection because it was easier for our kids and easier for us in the long run. And, it sets an example of good behavior for the younger generations should there be a breakup in their marriages…God forbid.

I’m sending some intentions out before God surrounding this project, for the items I need to make it easier, and for the venture to be a success. I’m reminding myself that Philippians 4:13 isn’t just referring to getting through the horrors in life. I believe we can use that scripture to help us work through the hard stuff, the frustrating stuff, the stuff that seems never-ending. We CAN succeed through Christ who strengthens us when we approach him through prayers and thanksgiving.

?

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

Philippians 4:6 NIV

  1. I agree! Our internet is also spotty and unreliable. We also live out in the country and everyone complains about the same thing out here. I signed up to get Starlink the end of last year, but there is such a backlog, they can’t give me an estimate of when it will become available. It has been about 6 months for other people who have finally gotten theirs…but ALL say it’s been a game changer! I’ll let you know when we receive ours and how it works. It’s quite pricey for the initial equipment, but I’m will to go for it!

  2. Same with the pixellating cable channels, and streaming services. The internet is fairly stable (we have Cox cable internet). I haven’t noticed any cellular issues, though. Hopefully things settle out, soon.
Thanks for sharing that your TV has pixellating… I was going to contact Cox. Now, I may delay that call.
