Independence Day!!!

Colorado sky
“Colorado’s sky is always amazing!”

It seems like I’m in Denver just about every Independence Day. Since I don’t travel here in the winters anymore, I make my trips extra long in the summer and they just about always hit during this fun, but noisy, holiday. As I am writing this, neighborhood fireworks are going off all around me and it sounds like a war zone.

Yesterday, I helped Daughter #1 upholster a padded cover for a chest she uses as a coffee table. Their new couch doesn’t have the recliners like her old one and they needed something comfortable to prop up their feet when they watch TV. It turned out beautiful and we were very proud when it was finished.

Big has her learner’s permit and I rode with them to lunch yesterday. It brought back memories of when I taught her mommy how to drive. I was very pregnant at the time and it was quite an adventure. My granddaughter is a very conservative driver and she did a great job. I cannot imagine learning to drive in Denver traffic! It’s crazy busy here all the time now…not just rush hour.

I forget how amazingly beautiful Colorado’s sky is! We came out of the grocery store at sunset yesterday and the clouds and light were stunning in every single direction. I stood there like a tourist seeing it for the first time…turning round and round taking pictures in the parking lot.

Today is full of family, food, and fun! I hope you all have a fun and safe holiday!!!

  1. Happy 4th of July to you. Enjoy your time in Colorado. I love the sunsets there. Today is meant to be with family as we celebrate our country, but missing the family that is not here with us.

  2. I hope you are enjoying the time with your family. I am enjoying the time with my son and daughter-in-law. I’m so happy to have them both in my life at this time.
